On Friday I went to the Healing Touch centre in Worcester, where I sometimes deliver Lightning Process seminars. This time I went for a First Aid course. It was booked for January, and that was the day it snowed. I got half way to the station in a taxi and realised we'd never make it. The taxi driver didn't want to risk the steep hill to my house, so I asked him to drop me at the bottom of the park and I walked a mile or so through the soft, clean snow, loving the way it was clinging to the trees.
No snow Friday, so I cycled the half hour to the station, including another of Bristol's unbelievably steep hills, nearly got myself killed by a car - but that's another story - and arrived in time to put my bike on the Worcester train for the hour and a half journey. It was raining when I got off, but an easy cycle downhill (yes!) brought me to Healing Touch. As soon as I opened the door I realised something hadn't gone according to plan. The other practitioners, who are all local to Worcester, looked at me, worried at how I might take the news, and announced that the trainer had just cancelled due to illness.
How do you deal with changes and challenges in your day?
Of course it's tempting to huff and puff and complain and regret and be angry in these situations. I could have stomped and cried and shouted at the unfairness of it all, the waste of a whole working day, the train fare.......and so on.
But one of the most useful things I've learned from my Lightning Process training is to consider the serenity prayer in these situations (although I'm not religious and this is my own version of the wording):
Lord give me the courage to change what I can change
Give me the serenity to accept what I can't change
And the wisdom to know the difference
There was nothing I could do about the training not happening and the loss of a working day and it wasn't anyone's fault , so I had to remember to accept what I couldn't change, to get on with enjoying my day anyway. So, I had a good chat with the other practitioners, reminding them to send me any clients who seemed particularly stuck with any chronic illness, helped myself to a large piece of coffee cake in the local cafe, and cycled back up the hill and on to a train after a couple of hours wait.

Are Your Thoughts Useful To You?
When you start to notice the kinds of thoughts you have about yourself on a daily basis, I wonder what percentage of them you feel are useful to you? How many of them are moving you towards, rather than away from, the life you love? Recently I spent a week with a close friend who lives on a small farm in the hills of the Alentejo in Portugal. She grows vegetables and has ducks, chickens, cats, dogs and horses. On my second day there we were hoping to tether the horses in a small area of beautiful Spring-green grass and wild flowers. What actually happened was that two of them escaped.
They sped off through the cistus roses, trampling the wild gladioli, and into a fabulous field of green wheat half a mile away. I watched as the wind rolled over the field in waves and the horses galloped away.
What my friend did was walk purposefully to the other side of the field, stay with them, and eventually get them back into the paddock, safe and well.
How on earth did you do that, I asked? She had used no bridles or whips.
Now she uses natural horsemanship techniques and her answer was: I focussed completely on my clear intention that they should come back to the paddock, so eventually they did.
When we are both kind and focussed in the way we use our thoughts, being clear about where we want to go, then we too can get the results we want, like a shepherd using a sheepdog with his sheep, or like Gail with her horses. We will make sure we are in charge of them, in the drivers' seat, when they break free in a way that isn't that safe or helpful. Intention is powerful in creating change.

New research
Lightning Process Research Update
Many people who have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis use the Lightning Process to get improvement in their symptoms.
Many people who have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis use the Lightning Process to get improvement in their symptoms.
Interim data has now been released from the Multiple Sclerosis Proof of Concept Study. The results from this will be appearing in the
MS magazine ‘New Pathways’, the Multiple Sclerosis ResourceCentre also commented on the results:
This Proof of Concept study, although being in a small number of subjects, produced some very encouraging and
worthwhile results over a 6 month period following participation in the Lightning Process. They indicate that the
Lightning Process provides measurable benefits to those with MS and suggest that a further larger randomised
study would be beneficial to investigate the role the Lightning Process plays in the well-being and quality of life of
MS patients. (MSRCSeptember 2011)

Successes
If you are thinking about doing the Lightning Process for fatigue issues, have a look at this Youtube link to get an idea of the dramatic results that can be achieved.

If you have already done the Lightning Process, why not make your own video and be included in the next success film?

What Can I use the Lightning Process for?
We see clients who use the Lightning Process for all sorts of conditions. It is well known for helping people who come with fatigue and pain issues. My recent clients have also included people with weight issues, anxiety and someone with a chronic condition involving a foot impairment. Colleagues also see a huge number of people dealing with all sorts of conditions and situations in this country and around the world. I know people who have used it to deal with the stress of redundancy or the general stress of work.
Because what the Lightning Process does is to help stop the Physical Emergency Response (PER), where your body is stuck in Fight or Flight mode, then it can help with issues involving stress, as well as immune and auto-immune conditions. Once the PER is stopped then the body can re-balance itself easily and automatically. This means that clever thinking, digestion, and healthy immune system responses can be restored.
And once you have learned to use this tool, it is available for you to use yourself on issues in your life that you want to tackle more effectively. I have used it to help my performance skills as a singer and a trainer, for example. Others have used it to help them climb mountains or run marathons. The world is your oyster!

Lightning Process on TV
This week is M.E. Awareness week, and the Lightning Process was featured on Lorraine at 8.30-9.30 this morning. The TV crew followed a client from before she did the Lightning Process until a month or so after. She looked and sounded completely different. It was great to see her out walking with her daughter after she had described herself previously as '100% housebound'.
If you'd like to see the programme, this feature was in the first half hour and you can view it here

Yesterday Radio Nottingham featured an interview with a young woman who had severe pain in her foot as well as M.E. She healed herself using the Lightning Process. You can listen again for the next 6 days.
